Non-league Football Preview
DROYLSDEN will have two new faces in the squad when they get back into action in the Bet Victor NPL north-west division. Young midfielder Jack Kay is a Fylde player who started the season on a dual registration at Ramsbottom. Centre-half Jack Kay has been at Marine, Morecambe and Charnock Richard. Tomorrow (Saturday’s) home encounter with sixth-placed Marske will be only the second match the Bloods have played since the 3-3 draw with Ossett United on November 16 thanks to postponements and a blank date last weekend. Manager Dave Pace has a full squad to call on except for long-term injuries Shaq Clarke and Diego Lattie. MOSSLEY, who are home to Dunston, also have no injuries to report. Dave Wild says they are at full tilt. The Durham side are joint-bottom with Pickering but have played far fewer games than the clubs around them. In the south-east division, defender Bakari Coulibaly returns for GLOSSOP NORTH END who visit Lincoln United. Co-bosses Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison have strengthened their midfield options by making two signings. Adam Latham returns to Surrey Street from Avro, and Luke Merrill joins on a month’s loan from Curzon Ashton. CURZON ASHTON will be seeking to extend their unbeaten run in National League North to four games when they face Hereford at the Tameside Stadium. The Nash, who endured an appalling run of form from the middle of August, have not lost since Bonfire Night and have made progress in the FA Trophy. Mo Ali is unavailable as he is on international duty with Somalia who play Djibouti in a CECAFA (Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations) Cup group match in Uganda tomorrow. Mike Claverley is back after recovering from a virus. Manager Mark Bradshaw adds that Oliver Thornley is getting closer to fitness. In the BetVictor NPL premier division, HYDE UNITED must head to Atherton Collieries without skipper Tom Pratt. He’s suspended for accruing a fifth yellow card last week when he was booked at the end of the 0-0 draw with Witton for complaining about a disallowed goal. Chris Sharp (foot) and Liam Tonge (knee) both face fitness tests but manager Dave McGurk says he is confident both will pass. After seeing their game at Gainsborough postponed, STALYBRIDGE CELTIC will be hoping they can carry on where they left off in the league when they take on Whitby at Bower Fold. Following their midweek Cheshire Senior Cup success over Altrincham they are looking for a sixth consecutive win. Manager Simon Haworth has a full squad to choose from as his team look to continue their best run of form since 2011. Mike Clegg also has the benefit of a full squad as he attempts to notch his first victory as ASHTON UNITED boss. But it won’t be easy at promotion-chasing Basford United. He has signed two players from his former club, Atherton Collieries. Right-winger Ben Hardcastle, who was on a contract, comes in for an undisclosed fee, as well as former Droylsden, Northwich and Southport midfielder Michael Brewster. Nicky Clee has moved to Bradford Park Avenue. |
