TRUE to assistant-boss Aeon Lattie’s words after last Saturday’s home defeat by Colwyn Bay, DROYLSDEN have acted quickly to bring in new blood.
Moussa Samassa is a French central defender from Welsh side Cefn Druids, and left-sided defender Stephen Rigby has been signed from Clitheroe. Both go straight into the squad for tomorrow (Saturday’s) Evo-stik NPL first division west game at Atherton Collieries.
They replace a trio who were released ten days ago on grounds of poor fitness: Javan Vidal, ex-Stalybridge striker Liam Dickinson and former Manchester United forward Febian Brandy.
Lattie, who had criticised what he termed the “yeah, yeah, yeah” attitude of certain players, said: “We’re always looking to improve. These young lads need to take that on board quickly or they’ll find themselves on the transfer list.”
Shaquille Clarke and Dylan Smith are doubtful and face late fitness tests.
MOSSLEY co-bosses Dave Wild and Terry Hincks have bumped up their firepower ahead to the visit to Skelmersdale by bringing in highly-rated young striker Szymon Czubik on loan from Stockport County.
Czubik, originally from Poland, is a swift and powerful centre-forward. He scored 23 goals in 13 academy games for Stockport last season, including three hat-tricks and five in one game.
Adam Jones and Steve Mason are banned and Mason Duffy again misses out with a damaged hamstring. Max Leonard has a dead-leg and will have a fitness test.
Alex Elliott returns for GLOSSOP NORTH END who are home to Kendal Town. Darrhyl Mason has joined Northwich Victoria.
In the premier division, HYDE UNITED will have to take on Hednesford Town at Ewen Fields without Matty Hughes who remains suspended. Ross Daly, Janni Lipka, Kyle Harrison, Nicky Platt and Grant Roberts all face fitness tests.
The loan spell of Preston striker Connor Simpson has been extended.
STALYBRIDGE CELTIC travel to Matlock Town looking to stretch their unbeaten run to six matches and manager Simon Haworth has a full squad to call upon.
In National League North, ASHTON UNITED are away to leaders Bradford Park Avenue and manager Jody Banim believes his side have a good chance of taking something from the game, even though he only has a 16-man squad.
Matt Chadwick is injured and Lewis Baines has returned to Fleetwood. Curtis Jones, who has been playing for Glossop, has been formally released.
Joe Guest, Danny Shaw and Adam Morgan are all back in the squad for CURZON ASHTON’s visit to Blyth Spartans after completing one-match suspensions. Cameron McJannett remains banned but will be available after tomorrow.
Jonno Hunt has regained fitness after missing Tuesday’s Manchester Premier Cup quarter-final victory at Salford City.
