Only hours after signing for HYDE UNITED, wideman Will McCamley was ordered to go back to Huddersfield Town who are recalling all their loan players as a precaution against the pandemic which has led to all Premier League and EPL fixtures being called off until the start of April.
The player’s unavailability causes problems for manager Dave McGurk as his Tigers squad prepare to travel to Mickleover tomorrow (Saturday) in the BetVictor NPL premier division. McCamley was needed to fill in for Jack Dyche who suffered a heavy knock at Morpeth on Tuesday and is out for at least a fortnight.
Also, Liam Tongue is suspended for two games after receiving a tenth yellow card last week. Striker Dan Turner has signed for Matlock Town.
McGurk could be forced to call on one of four players signed from the reserves who look set to win the Lancashire League’s east division: Sam Summerbee, Max Pritchard, Josh Churchman and Hamid Addai.
It’s also understood that Hyde have received notification from the FA about the action to be taken against them following incidents at the end of the Boxing Day fixture with Stalybridge when a clash between John McCombe and Celtic keeper Alex Fojticek led to fans running on to the pitch at the final whistle.
The club has declined to make any comment until the letter has been circulated to board members. However, it seems possible both clubs have been fined. There could also be suspensions.
Form team ASHTON UNITED are home to Grantham. Only Steve Tames, who has concussion, will be unavailable for the Robins who are now 17th in the table and eight points clear of the relegation places.
Manager Mike Clegg is clearly making his presence felt. After a difficult period when he took over in late November results have improved dramatically in 2020. Since mid-January Ashton have lost only once in ten games, winning six times.
STALYBRIDGE CELTIC’s home match with Morpeth Town is in severe doubt. The Bower Fold pitch has retained a lot of water and an inspection is scheduled for 8am.
Last night (Thursday) Bridge should have played at Morpeth. They made the long coach journey to Northumberland only to find the game called off at the last minute. One club official described the events as a fiasco.
In National League North, CURZON ASHTON ought to be safe from relegation but they will be hopeful of adding to their points tally when they visit bottom club Bradford Park Avenue.
Sean Miller remains injured and Will Ryder has announced he will be leaving the Tameside Stadium at the end of the month to join Crewe Alexandra as head of coaching.
The Nash are to appeal against the red card issued to Owen Watkinson in the 1-1 draw at Boston United.
In the BetVictor NPL first division south east, GLOSSOP NORTH END have signed striker Leon Iluobe ahead of their visit to play-off contenders Carlton Town.
Midfielder Ali Sheriff is available after missing the midweek defeat at Frickley. Jordan Fitton is in light training following a fractured metatarsal.
Caretaker boss Andy Keogh is doubtful for MOSSLEY’s first division north west match at Prescot. The same injury ruled him out of the 2-0 reverse at Workington on Tuesday.
Ryan Brooke has a groin strain but the rest of the squad is fit.
Battered DROYLSDEN welcome Clitheroe to the Butchers Arms hoping to avoid a sixth straight defeat. It’s a run in which they have scored only once but conceded 21 goals.
Shaq Clarke pulled up in last night’s 4-0 defeat at Pontefract and is unable to play. Keano Deacon is fit but has work commitments. Sam Oliver has a damaged knee.
The club are believed to be very unhappy about the late arrangement of the trip to Pontefract. Last Saturday was a free date and the players were given the day off in the belief they could train on Tuesday and Thursday.
