STALYBRIDGE CELTIC step out on the Wembley trail tomorrow (Saturday) when they travel to the Midlands to take on Sutton Coldfield Town in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy. Liam Watson’s men will be looking for their third away victory in eight days, but they will be without midfielders Danny Wisdom and Ben McKenna, both of whom are sidelined with ankle injuries. Striker Darius Osei and defender Jack Higgins both had to be substituted in Tuesday’s thrilling Manchester Premier Cup win at FC United and face late fitness tests. Talisman Higgins is the bigger doubt with a foot injury. CURZON ASHTON could have four players absent for their tie at Harrogate Town. Matt Flynn has what may be a toe injury and may not be able to play again until Christmas. Ryan Brooke starts a suspension for being sent off against North Ferriby, Cameron Mason is unavailable because of a family bereavement, and Andy Watson is doubtful because of a heavy cold. Tom Eckersley returns to the Tameside Stadium after a brief and disappointing spell at Glossop. Defender Benito Lowe, son of Hyde United manager Gary Lowe, retains his place on the bench. Striker Dale Johnson misses ASHTON UNITED’s game at Gainsborough Trinity with a hamstring injury. Will Haining is unavailable and defender Steve Mason is banned. Reserve midfielders Josh Steadman and Danny Vincent come into the squad. Each winning team receives £4,000 in prize money. In the Evo-stik NPL premier division, Shane Killock and Jordan Snodin both return to the HYDE UNITED squad for tomorrow’s home clash with Frickley Athletic as the Tigers look for their first league win since October 26. Huddersfield Town have agreed to extend goalkeeper Ed Wilczynski’s loan arrangement for a further month. In the first division north, DROYLSDEN welcome Kendal Town to the Butchers Arms looking to build on last week’s win at Scarborough. Ben Hampson is back after a long lay-off with injury. Dominic Smith and Liam Baker should also be fit but Brandon Zibaka and Danny Hewitt are sidelined. Nathan Haynes and Andrew Langford have left the Bloods. GLOSSOP NORTH END have a trio of suspensions for the visit of Bamber Bridge – Kelvin Lugsden, Matt Russell and Dave Young. Ben Richardson remains injured. Andy Keogh and Mitch Bryant both start three-match bans for MOSSLEY who visit Lancaster City. Mike Fish will be at a wedding. Caldon Henson is back and former Glossop defender Andy Fitzgerald comes into the squad. CONFIRMED player movements registered with the Evo-stik Northern Premier League from Sunday, November 15 to Saturday, November 21.

SHANE KILLOCK returns to the HYDE UNITED squad for tomorrow (Saturday’s) Evo-stik NPL premier division game at Ilkeston after a month out with a pulled calf muscle. The news of the central defender’s availability is bound to delight the Ewen Fields faithful who have seen the Tigers lose their last three games — most recently 3-0 at Nantwich — after a five-match winning run that took them into the play-off places. ASHTON UNITED, buoyed by last weekend’s FA Trophy success against Stratford Town, have everyone fit and available for the game against league-leaders Nantwich at Hurst Cross. In Vanarama North, STALYBRIDGE CELTIC travel to Brackley looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s weather-influenced loss to Corby. Manager Liam Watson will be without defender John Shaw and midfielder Danny Wisdom as the Bridge look to gain at least a point for the first time at St James’s Park, a ground where they have failed to score on their last three visits. Alex Brown is back for CURZON ASHTON who face Chorley at the Tameside Stadium. Another piece of good news is Jordan Wright’s recovery from a slight hamstring problem but Matt Flynn is doubtful with a foot injury picked up in last week’s defeat by North Ferriby. Connor Hampson is 50/50 with a slight hamstring issue and faces a late fitness test. Cameron Mason starts a two-match ban. In the Evo-stik NPL first division north, MOSSLEY have everyone fit and available for their home game with Burscough. Brandon Kibaka, Domaine Rouse and Eddie Dryden all return for DROYLSDEN who are away to Scarborough Athletic. Ben Barber is doubtful. For GLOSSOP NORTH END, who suffered a rare defeat last week, conceding a last-minute goal against Ossett Albion, Kelvin Lugsden and Matt Russell are both suspended for the visit to Warrington. Ben Richardson remains injured. CONFIRMED Tameside player movements registered with the Evo-stik Northern Premier League from Sunday, November 8, to 11am on Saturday, November 14.
Dylan Stringer-Moth from New Mills to Ashton United Tommy Cooney from Ashton United to Brighouse Town Ashley Stott from Glossop North End to Trafford Weekend Previews
STRATFORD Town may be hovering just above the Southern League premier division relegation places, but ASHTON UNITED co-boss Paul Phillips has dismissed any suggestion they will be pushovers when they visit Hurst Cross tomorrow (Saturday) in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy. “We’ve had them watched and they have quite a bit of experience in the team and are pretty quick at getting forward,” he commented. “I think focusing on their league position gives a false sense of security because if they win their games in hand they can go right up to the play-off places. They’re a big, physical team and I’m expecting a very tough game.” Unhappy with the commitment of some players, Phillips and partner Steve Halford have brought three reserves into the squad: Josh Steadman, Danny Vincent and Dylan Moth. They replace midfielder Chris Sutherland, who has been released, and Matt Chadwick and Aaron Burns who have been dropped but told they are free to leave if they can find another club. “We’ll see if the youngsters have a bit more fire in their bellies,” said Phillips. Striker Dale Johnson misses the tie through injury. If the Robins win they receive £3,250 in prize money. CURZON ASHTON fans will be eager to see if super striker Mike Norton makes an appearance against North Ferriby at the Tameside Stadium after his return from FC United. Alex Brown continues to be suspended and Jordan Wright is doubtful with a slight hamstring problem. Ben Atkinson sustained ankle ligament damage in training last night and is 50/50. Defender Tom Eckersley has recovered after his lengthy injury and is available for loan or dual registration to gain match fitness. Anyone interested in signing him should contact manager John Flanagan. STALYBRIDGE CELTIC return to Vanarama North action after two successive cup defeats when they welcome bottom club Worcester City to Bower Fold. Manager Liam Watson will be without defender John Shaw (knee) and midfielder Danny Wisdom (ankle) and awaits a late check on central defender Jack Higgins as his team look to arrest a slide that has seen them lose four of their last six games. Watson may look to make changes up front as the Bridge have scored only two goals in 572 minutes, with neither of them coming from a striker. In fact it’s more than 12 hours since a Celtic forward found the back of the net. Gary Lowe has two central defenders missing as HYDE UNITED prepare to entertain Colwyn Bay in the Integro Doodson League Cup. Joe Wilkinson has a hamstring injury and Spencer Harris has a family illness. Midfielder Dave Birch is also unavailable. “We’re down to the bare bones,” said Lowe. In the Evo-stik NPL first division north, it’s as you were for DROYLSDEN who are away to Clitheroe, GLOSSOP NORTH END at home to Ossett Albion and MOSSLEY who go to Trafford. Very heavy rain is forecast so make sure you check games are on before you travel. I’ll do my best to tweet any information. |
